FXRISK Manual

Leverage

Using borrowed exposure to control a larger position than your equity.

Why it matters

Leverage increases fragility: small moves become large equity swings.

Operational use: this is how the market taxes urgency. When it appears, slow down or size down.

Common trap

Treating leverage as ‘faster gains’ without pricing gap risk and margin dynamics.

Example

A 1% move against 50× leverage can wipe half your equity.

Operational cue: if you can’t point to it on the chart, in the DOM, or in your broker logs, treat it as a story and trade smaller.

Notes

Leverage is a convexity amplifier: it makes bad days catastrophic.

Quick rule

  • If you see this repeatedly, you are in a different regime than your model assumes.
  • Regime change usually means position size change.
  • When in doubt: trade smaller, or don’t trade.
